Bengaluru: In a brazen robbery, a bride’s jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh was stolen from the wedding hall while the ceremony was in progress.
The theft came to light after the ceremony, when Poornima, 27, was getting ready to attend the reception party. It is suspected that when the bride left for the ceremony, the beautician stayed back in the changing room.
The family made an announcement in the hall that the jewellery had gone missing and appealed to all the guests to return it if they were to find it. This caused panic in the hall but there was no sign of the jewellery.
After the reception, the family members approached Kanakapura Police Station and filed a complaint against unknown persons.
The police said that the investigation was going to be difficult as more than 300 people were present at the venue and the hall does not have a CCTV camera.
“The family members informed us about the incident only after the event was over and the guests had left the venue. Also, they did not see any person enter the changing room,” police said. However, the police have procured the list of attendees and have started an inquiry.
