PFI condemns state’s silence on attacks on Muslims
By NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: The Popular Front of India (PFI) has condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party-led state government’s silence on the recent increase in attacks on Muslims in Karnataka and across the country.
The BJP or Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) agenda is to spread hatred in the name of religion or caste, while the upcoming State Assembly elections may also be a reason for this religion-based politics, according to the PFI.
“What is happening is not a communal clash but a preplanned attack on Muslims by Hindutva goons. When the State’s co-existence is being disturbed, people need to be united to fight against such ideology. But in Karnataka, the one who raises his voice is being suppressed. The harsh truth is that no one should raise their voice against the exploitation of minority communities,” said Ashraf A K, State secretary, PFI.
He also pointed out the government’s generosity while giving compensation to a Hindu victim but neglecting a Muslim victim.
Anis Ahmed, national general secretary of the PFI said that even the Congress party’s silence is unacceptable.
