Woman hangs son, self

Bengaluru: A 36-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide along with her five-year-old son by hanging to a ceiling fan at her residence in Hulimavu Police Station limits, police said on Wednesday.

Police identified the deceased as Rohini Shetty and Sian Shetty.

Following the investigation, it was found that Rohini was a homemaker while her husband, Praveen, is employed as an engineer at a private firm in the city. The family had been staying in a rented house in Basavanapura.

On April 18, Praveen got suspicious when his wife did not come out of her room for coffee. As the door was locked from inside, he took the help of his neighbours to break open the door only to find both his wife and son hanging.

It is suspected that the woman hanged her son first and then herself.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death.
