Bengaluru: The All India University Employees Confederation (AIUEC) on Wednesday called upon varsity workers to stage state-wide protests over non-payment of salaries for the month of March.

“The All India University Employees Confederation has called for state-wide protest on Thursday across the State, against anti-education steps of the government and urged to withdraw the anti-employee HRMS (Human Resource Management System) and release the salary for the month of March 2022,” stated AIUEC. The union added that under the new system, disbursal of salaries had become irregular and had been causing university employees a lot of difficulties.

“For the first time in Karnataka, till today the salary for the month of March 2022, is not disbursed in many universities of Karnataka by the state government. A new system called “HRMS” is introduced by the state government according to which the state government will disburse the university teachers and non-teaching employees of universities in the state directly,” it said.

AIUEC said that varsities workers being forced to abide by the HRMS system was a violation of the autonomy of the universities.

“Earlier the respective universities were disbursing salary of respective university teachers and nonteaching employees on the last day of the month. Since the introduction of HRMS, the disbursal of employees’ salary has been very irregular. The (delay in) disbursal of employees’ salary by the state government is an attack on the autonomy of the university,” the statement read.
