Boom, boom Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Bengalureans went into a tizzy on Friday after hearing a loud sound, accompanied by mild vibrations in several parts of the city Friday morning.
The sound had its origin in Bidadi, home to quarrying units and led to speculation whether it was a repeat of the sonic boom on July 2 this year.
But Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) clarified that this was no earthquake. “Reports of sound associated with mild vibrations were received from Hemmigepura, Kengeri, Gnanabharathi, Rajarajeswari Nagar and Kaggalipura between 11.50 am and 12.15 pm. The data was analysed by our seismic observatories but the seismographs did not show local tremors”.
