BJP MP seeks plaint against parties for defacing Mysuru

Mysuru: Known for rubbing his own party MLAs the wrong way, Mysuru-Kodagu BJP MP Pratap Simha may have ignited an hornet’s nest by demanding that Mysuru City Corporation take action against all political parties (including the BJP) for defacing the city with ‘ugly’ flex boards and banners.

Fans of Large and Medium Scale Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani had put up the boards and plastic banners across the city to welcome their leader who participated in a government function on Thursday. Similarly, Janata Dal (Secular) workers had put up publicity material all across the city in connection with the Janata Jaladhare yatra in which former CM H.D.Kumaraswamy, JDS supremo H D.Deve Gowda and State JD(S) President C M. Ibrahim had participated.

Since the authorities of Mysuru City Corporation have not acted against these boards and banners, political parties have been taking advantage of it and have put up publicity material no matter whether their leaders want it or not. These material are removed only after the event. No one knows about any case booked against political parties for disfiguring the city.

On Friday morning, Simha shared in his Twitter account two or three pictures of the flex board (in which his photo is visible) and tagged the Commissioner o f MCC asking him to take action against all political parties for spoiling the beauty of his city. He has asked the MCC chief to invoke provisions of the law and take action or slap notices on the parties concerned.

By doing this, Simha has shown that all is not well in the Mysuru City BJP unit. The MP’s ties with city BJP MLAs are strained and they had a public spat recently over a gas pipeline project. Chamaraja MLA L Nagendra and Krishna Raja MLA S A. Ramdas have indirectly asked the MP not to poke his nose in the affairs of their assembly constituencies. They said Simha would not have won the 2019 LS polls had they not worked hard for him. Most senior workers of the Mysuru BJP too are reportedly unhappy with Simha.
