Taps run dry in Mysuru due to power outage

Mysuru: Taps in Mysuru City went dry on Saturday following power outage due to heavy rain on Friday night.
According to sources, the rain uprooted several trees on Mysuru-KRS Road, a couple of which fell on electric wires in the area. That caused the power to go off last night, which was not restored till Saturday afternoon. This hampered the lifting of what at Belagola Pumping Station, and supply of the pumped water to Vani Vilasa Water Works was hit. This affected water supply to the entire city.
Sources said the VVWW authorities had planned to supply water on the afternoon of Saturday, but that also didn’t happen due to a delay in the restoration of power supply.
“Water is likely to be supplied to the entire city in phased timings on Sunday,” the source said.
It may be mentioned here that water supply was affected for almost two days after the bearing of a pumping machine collapsed, which had to be procured from Bengaluru.
