Re-exam not acceptable to successful PSI candidates

Bengaluru: The ongoing PSI scam is unfolding new pages on a daily basis. In one such incident, the announcement of re-exam has evoked disappointment among the selected 545 candidates who demand that the government not go ahead with the plan.

Chetana Yadav, a mother who stayed away from her threeyear-old girl for two months to prepare for the exam, said that everyone who prepared for the exam has sacrificed something or the other in their life to come to this level. “We are against the re-exam because we have worked hard for the exam. We are genuine. I stayed in a PG for two months even though I have a home in Bengaluru so as to concentrate. That’s the level of dedication it takes. It’s not as easy as the government announcing the re-exam,” she said.

She asked that just because of malpractices from a few people why punish the other five hundred odd candidates. "There are strict rules while conducting the exam. CCTV cameras are must in the exam hall, why don't they check the CCTV in all the exam halls. There was a biometric entry during the entry as well as the exit. Invigilators signed after checking the number of questions answered. After going through all these procedures, why do they want us to write the re-exam? Who is responsible for the illegal actions? How will the malpractice happen without the support of the system? why should we suffer?" she questioned.

Ranganath, selected candidate, said that the PSI exam is not a SSLC exam where  you can attend the re-exam. "After the completion of the exams we have stopped the studies, we are happy that we got selected. But now this has been a big blow for us. Everyone knows it is not easy to pass these competitive exams every time they write. We are not in agreement to the re-exam since we are genuine and are ready to fight legally," he said.

Rajeshwari, from Udupi said that she has been preparing for the exam for three years. "Now that I have passed I'm not feeling happy. I'm worried that I have to write the exam again. I have invested a lot of time on this for the preparation. I'm not able to accept the decision of the government who must take the right decision by finding out who has been involved in the scam rather than calling for a re-exam. They should also think about the genuine candidates here," she said.
