AAP protests against KPSC, workers arrested

Bengaluru: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday protested against the alleged corruption in Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC). The protesters were arrested at Freedom Park before they could march towards the KPSC headquarters near Vidhana Soudha.

On March 3, a Karnataka High Court order had forbidden rallies and agitations in Bengaluru, citing traffic issues. It had directed protests only to be held in Freedom Park.

AAP Bengaluru President Mohan Dasari said: “KPSC is known as the den of corruption and all governments have only spoken about bringing the KPSC into the right track but have not taken any corrective steps. The time is right to unite and show strength by protesting on behalf of three crore youth of this State and against the governments which have so far ruled us. On one hand the youth are not getting the jobs as per their educational qualifications and on the other, the corrupt are cornering the scarce government jobs and thus ruling BJP is doing injustice to the youth of the state” he said.

“KPSC was formed with a noble cause to provide jobs to the youth of this state but this has become a marketplace to sell the jobs to make crores of rupees for corrupt politicians and bureaucrats. If it is not possible to bring KPSC on the right track, it will be better to close it down. While we were on our way to KPSC headquarters, the police and the government are bent on protecting the corrupt and hence they arrested us at the beginning of our march” Dasari added.

AAP leaders Jagadish V Sadam, Chennappagowda Nellur, Lakshmikant Rao, Ravichandra Nerabenchi, Sameer, Farid, Dr Satish Kumar, Shashavalli, Geetha, Prakash Nedungadi, Maria and other AAP Karnataka leaders participated in the protest.
