Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, Bengaluru police found a youth’s body in a sandladen truck near Marathahalli. The youth had gone missing from Hosakote a few days ago, police said on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Somanath, a student who was pursuing Second year Pre University course from Samruddhi PU College.
Police officials from Marathahalli said that the parents of Somanath had filed a case at Hosakote police station after their son had gone missing from home on May 5. The parents had found a note left by their son alleging murder threats by his friends.
It was revealed that Somanath was a college topper and was doing well in the on-going Second PU examinations.
Probing into the case, the police found that Somanath had been a part of a chatting group with his friends where they used to communicate with each other.
It is alleged that recently he had started texting a girl on social media, the screenshots of which were procured by his friends. The friends then shared the screenshots on the chat group to tease Somanath. Upset by this, he had exited from the group and left his house without informing his parents, sources said.
On May 6, people near Marathahalli were shocked to find a dead body coming down along with the sand when a truck from Tamil Nadu was unloading at a site. The city police rushed to the spot and an inspection was initiated. The police stations were alerted about it and the body was sent for medical examination.
As the missing case had been registered with the Hoskote police, the officials alerted Somanath’s parents, who confirmed their son’s identity.
Hosakote police have been investigating the cause of his death and also if Somanath had been threatened.
