Dalit outfit demands probe into fake caste certificate scam

Bengaluru: Bhartiya Parivartana Sanga (BPS) has alleged thousands of people got government jobs in Karnataka with fake caste certificates. It asked the government to investigate the issue and take necessary measures to identify the fraudsters.
“The government should do this in the interest of the public,” BPS President Advocate Hari Ram told News Trail. He said the political class haunted Director General of Police Dr P Ravindranath for exposing the caste certificate scam. “It is a conspiracy to target a Dalit officer. Ravindranath is a victim of caste discrimination,” he said.
Ravindranath tendered his resignation last week after his transfer to the training wing of the Karnataka State Police. He alleged that he was prematurely transferred as he had taken legal action against people involved in the fake caste certificate scam.
“Caste discrimination prevails in India at all levels. It is like an infectious disease that is deeply embedded in the system. Everyone is born with an invisible spectacle here. It is the spectacle of caste and people see everything in the context of this. This has led to the untouchables not being able to revolt and accept caste discrimination,” he said.
He said though mainstream media report atrocities against Dalits, such as rape, murder and physical assault, they ignore the social and emotional boycott.
“The corrupt political system feels anything can be done if it has power. Ravindranath, who unearthed the caste certificate scam, is being harassed for taking legal actions. The government should ensure to give him a good position or total power,” Hari Ram demanded.
