Food & Civil Supplies and Forest Minister Umesh Katti has predicted the formation of a separate state for North Karnataka after the 2024 general elections. “Take it from me, North Karnataka will become a separate state after the Lok Sabha polls”, he asserted.
According to Katti, after two years, 50 new states would be formed in the country and a discussion is going on in this regard. One among them will be North Karnataka. Maharashtra will be divided into three states and Uttar Pradesh into four and no one can stop this, he said.
The minister also complained about the state of affairs in Bengaluru claiming there was no drinking water in the city and traffic chaos was the order of the day in the state capital. It would take a minimum one hour for anyone to cover a distance of 10 km.
A minimum of one and a half hours is needed to reach Vidhana Soudha from his place, the minister said adding, “I feel it is better to walk to Vidhana Soudha than travel in a vehicle”. Katti said the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha was ready in Belagavi, a bench of Karnataka high Court was functioning in Hubballi- Dharwad twin cities and talks are on for building an international airport in Kittur. All these would boost the campaign for a separate state of North Karnataka, he added.
