Classical dance lovers had a perfect weekend treat when disciples of Upadhye School of Dance enthralled them with their performance ‘Asav’ at Seva Sadan here on Saturday.

Artistes Richa Das, Shobhit Ramesh and Suvin Prasad, students of the renowned dance school, did the institution proud with a Bharatanatyam dance recital in the margam diktat composed under the guidance of gurus Shri Parshwanath Upadhye, Smt Shruti Gopal and Shri Adithya PV.

The concert looked into the nuances of bhakti, with tints of sringara being explored through the language of Bharatanatyam. Asav means nectar, passion, excitement and stimulation, the trio enlightened through the presentation.

Richa Das, a 12th-grade student at Bishop Cotton Girls’ High School, runs her own dance school Kalarpane. She performed alongside long-time friends, and collaborators Shobhit and Suvin, for whom dance is not just a common connecting factor but a significant bond in their life’s journey.

Shobit is pursuing an MBA, while Suvin works with the IBM. "At an event I had been to about 45 days ago, a friend mentioned that there was a slot available at the auditorium, which we could occupy if we wished. We jumped at the offer and thus began the Asav journey," revealed an elated Richa.
