Amid the preparations of Eidul Adha, eminent Muslim leaders and scholars in Bengaluru have appealed to the community to work towards maintaining peace and brotherhood in the society. Adbul Azeem, Chairman of Karnataka State Minorities Commission asserted the community should abide by the orders set by the state government in the wake of the festival, which is to be celebrated on July 10.

Azeem told News Trail, “Eidul Azha is a festival of joy to be celebrated with family and friends. Be generous and help the ones in need. I request the people to pray for peace and prosperity and avoid indulging in unnecessary and unlawful activities,” he said.

He further said, “I call upon all the Muslim brethren to desist from either buying or transporting the cattle for slaughter. I would also appeal to all, not to violate the orders of the government. As the citizens of this state, we are duty bound to comply with the orders of the government. Any violation will bring wrath on the community which may at times end up with deterioration of peace and tranquillity,” he said.

Imam and Khateeb of Jamia Masjid, Bengaluru, Maulana Maqsood Imran Rashadi, urged the community to celebrate the Eidul Adha with communal harmony. “The day of Eidul Adha is indeed very holy and glorious for Muslims. The festival should be celebrated with extraordinary sanctity, care and vigilance,” he said.

“I ask the Muslims to perform the qurbani at collective level in neighbourhoods, towns and cities by maintaining cleanliness. Do not give chance by your actions and behavior for any kind of complaint to your neighbours, especially those belonging to other faiths. Our religion forbids causing disturbance or hurting others during our celebrations. One must obey and follow the injunctions of Deen and Shariat. Do not offer the qurbani on the roads, footpaths and pathways, rather perform the qurbani in open spaces. Kindly ensure the highest level of cleanliness and hygiene. While performing Qurbani (sacrifice), one must also remember to cleanse his heart and mind of his own sins. Perform prayers at the Mosques or the Eidgah whichever is near and comfortable. Avoid violating government rules and do not be a part of any unpleasant incident,” he said.
