The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s engineers have neglected yet another deadline set by the civic body’s higher-ups.
An official order signed by the BBMP Chief Commissioner dated August 17 instructed the Executive Engineers of all divisions to get construction material cleared from roads and footpaths. The instruction was given after the BBMP had received complaints from citizens that they were inconvenienced by the material placed on footpaths and roads.
The Executive Engineers were given a deadline of August 21 for submitting a report of the spots cleared along with geo-tagged photographs However, uncleared construction material and debris could be seen on several roads of the city despite the order. BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath said that reports from the zones were not submitted to him and, as a result, a new order would be given and action taken against errant engineers.
The zonal executive engineers were instructed two months ago to levy fines on those dumping construction material and debris on roads and footpaths. Then, too, the order was met with similar neglect.
