Men in khaki come under fire for dereliction of duty

Bengaluru: A police officer was suspended on charges of dereliction of duty and inaction against a popular pub, which had operated late into the night, while playing DJ music in the city recently.
On October 14, CCB had raided a popular Restobar, Tonique, in KR Puram police station limits after they had discovered that the pub had been operating beyond permissible hours. After a probe it was allegedly found that Nandish, an inspector of police attached to KR Puram police station, had failed to act against the pub, raising several suspicions against him.
An inquiry had been initiated against the police officer and a report of which was further sent to the Bengaluru police commissioner CH Pratap Reddy. Based on the reports, the police commissioner issued the suspension orders for the police inspector.
In another incident, a complaint has been lodged against the inspector of police attached to High Grounds police station here, for arresting an elderly lady in the evening, in connection with a property issue, but in the absence of policewomen.
The complaint was submitted to the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court and Bengaluru Police Commissioner CH Pratap Reddy on Friday, by an Advocate Samad Khan. "The court has issued a stay order in a property dispute case. In spite of the order, inspector Shiva Swamy arrested Mary Elizabeth in the evening and took her to the police station.
This is done in the absence of lady cops violating all guidelines," Samad Khan alleged in his complaint. The complainant has urged to initiate action against the police inspector. Mary Elizabeth owns a property in upscale Cunningham Road and the property dispute is in the court.
Despite the stay order from the court, the inspector is interfering in the dispute, he mentioned in the complaint. "The police are interfering with property issues violating the Supreme Court guidelines in this regard," the complaint read.
