‘Eshwarappa is BJP’s Mahishasura’
Minister K.S. Eshwarappa has always had a frenemy in CLP leader and former CM, Siddaramaiah, who quite enjoy trading barbs and insults. Eshwarappa recently told Siddaramaiah that he talks like he is drunk but before the latter had a chance to respond with an equally colourful remark, an irate D.K. Shivakumar entered the fray. A furious D.K.S lashed out at Eshwarappa, saying he resembles the idol of demon Mahishasura atop Chamundi Hill. Apparently this resemblance is born of the BJP leader’s abrupt manner of speaking. When journalists brought this to his notice he simply smiled and went away.
Will Mandya give Nikhil some sugar?
He might have been trounced by the electorate in Mandya back in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls but Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy has proved quite resilient to political humiliation. He never loses an opportunity to visit his Sakkara Naadu, hoping to build a rapport with voters. This week, he was a special guest at the flood light Kabaddi tournament, organized in Maddur. Nikhil was there in full swing, and eager to show himself as ‘one of the boys’, even played Kabbadi for a while with the teams. As this little byplay came to an end, Nikhil glibly slipped in a little parting shot, telling people that he’s ready to contest from Mandya once more, if his party asks him to do so. Will this little display of team spirit work in his favour?
CM Bommai’s ‘party’ trouble
CM Basavaraj Bommai is a busy man, so much so that it took him a couple of months to find the time to go on rounds across the city, despite being the minister in charge of its development. It is his principle duty as CM, after all, to attend marriage functions – a great responsibility, shouldered with aplomb. He makes it to around ten functions a week, reserving his evenings to do so. Determined not to let a party MLA down, he recently flew to Davanagere in a chopper just to attend his house-warming ceremony, in a show of heart-warming dedication. With so many important things on his agenda, it’s up to the public to be a little more understanding of his busy schedule and the fact that he has no time for them!
