Accept positive, negative media coverage: Narayan

Bengaluru: State Higher Education Minister CN Ashwath Narayan on Sunday said that new media’s coverage should be accepted whether it be flattering or critical of sitting governments. He made the comments at the Doordarshan Foundation Day and the 40th anniversary celebrations of Karnataka Media Academy in which Prasarabharati also took part.

“The media shows the good and the bad alike. We should accept both equally and progress. Doordarshan has its own heritage,” Narayan said. Karnataka Media Academy president Sadashiva Shenoy said that Doordarshan was in the process of producing biographies of senior journalists, which would guide young scribes.

He added that vocational training courses would be made available to young journalists by the Skill Development Department.
