Bengaluru:
If anything can move the civic body, BBMP to act on the filling up of the innumerable potholes on city roads, it could be a JCB! At least residents of Rajajinagar believe so and staged a protest on Tuesday by parking a JCB in the middle of the road, demanding repairs of the badly damaged sretch where a man died in a mishap after he fell from the vehicle he was riding in and was run over by a tractor on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Kumar, a resident of Mariyappanpalya and a plumber. Only aged 35, his death has now been added to the long list of lives lost due to the bad state of roads in the city. Kumar was riding his two-wheeler on a road that links Dr Rajkumar Road on his way to work when he lost control of his vehicle as the road had not been asphalted with loose gravel all over.
It had been dug up to lay utility lines. Kumar fell off his bike after which the tractor ran over him causing severe head injuries. The Malleshwaram traffic police have booked the tractor driver for negligence. The BBMP has claimed that Monday’s incident has nothing to do with the condition of the road. But the residents are in no mood to agree.
