Bengaluru: Countering yet another set of allegations against the city cops for failing to act against several fugitive rowdy-sheeters during the recent CCB raids, Joint Commissioner of Police, CCB, Bengaluru, Dr Sharanappa S Dhage on Monday clarified that the police will never hold back while taking action against those who break the law here.

As reported earlier by News Trail, a raid was carried out on at least 86 residences belonging to rowdy-sheeters across the city. Following the raids the police had reported that a few of the notorious offenders including Naga from Wilson Garden, Rohit from Kadubeesanahalli, Cycle Ravi and Silent Sunil, were ‘not at home’ during the crackdown.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Silent Sunil, was seen along with a few BJP leaders including Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan, Chickpet MLA Garudachar, Bengaluru South BJP president NR Ramesh and others, during a blood donation camp which was held in the city.

Following the event, residents, activists and political parties here started questioning the senior police officers as to how a notorious offender, who is wanted by the police, can escape from the police radar and attend events in the same city.

“First I would like to clarify that there is no political pressure on the police,” said Dr Sharanappa. “Any person, regardless of having political or other influence, will be brought to justice,” he said. The senior official also said that following the CCB raids, the personnel have been keeping a close watch on the activities of the offenders and have so far interrogated 9 accused among those who had escaped from their homes during the raids.

“There is no pending case against Sunil as of now,” Sharanappa said. “However we will interrogate him and necessary action will be taken against him if he is involved in any criminal activity,” he added.

However sources later in the day informed News Trail that Sunil has yet again disappeared after switching off his mobile phones. A team of CCB personnel who approached Sunil’s house near Kodigehalli found it locked.
