NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: The Karnataka state elections are only a handful of months away. While more than five crore citizens are registered to vote in the state according to the Draft Electoral Roll 2023, out of the total, 91 lakh people have votes in Bengaluru.
The publication of the final electoral rolls is scheduled to happen on January 5, 2023. If one’s name is deleted or altered or there are any other errors, the deadline to raise objections is December 8.However, if one lives in the vicinity of Shivajinagar, Chickpet and Mahadevapura constituencies, the deadline to raise objections has been extended to December 23.
This is because recent investigations by media houses exposed voter data theft and revealed that a private NGO named Chilume Educational Trust had deployed hundreds of field workers posing as election officials to collect data illegally from citizens.
Following this, the Election Commission of India on November 25 directed a review of voter lists in three Bengaluru constituencies that is Shivajinagar, Chickpet and Mahadevapura.
