Independent filmmaker, writer and actor Shameem AMSKK has launched amskkart.tent, a solo artistic journey that will take him across India on a motorcycle, blending cinema, theatre and community interaction into a travelling cultural experience. As part of the initiative, Shameem is carrying three of his most personal short films, live performance pieces and The Teabank—a mobile tea stall that functions as a space for conversation and reflection. The project is designed as an open, nomadic platform where art meets everyday life, inviting audiences to engage beyond the conventional screening format.
Shameem has been actively involved in cinema for over three decades, studying and experimenting with the medium in various forms. Over the last 12 years, he has completed three short films that mark significant phases of his creative journey. T (2013), a three-minute montage featuring more than 250 artists, examines global politics of stereotyping and minority representation. NVC – Non-Violent Conversation (2022) follows a writer who abandons his search for stories, unfolding instead a collage of everyday conversations across the world. His latest film, re. (2025), presents a poetic narrative of an artist and his wife rediscovering love and hope after a long silence.
Describing the films as “ongoing dialogues rather than closed narratives,” Shameem said the works are meant to continue evolving through audience interaction. The journey was flagged off in the presence of National Award-winning actor and State Award-winning director Muhammed Musthafa, who extended his support and best wishes. In addition to his short films, Shameem’s body of work includes documentaries, advertising films, short stories and theatre. Through amskkart.tent, he aims to create a moving space for imagination, shared reflection and collective consciousness across communities.
